New CDs Released This Fall…

Power-pop/emo upstart Conshafter is wooing the big labels with a November full-length, “A Slow Drive Off a High Dive,” recorded at Pebble Creek Studios in Midlothian. The Conshafter guys had some of the tracks electronically produced by hip-hop legend Keith Shocklee (Public Enemy) in New York City. The songs will be available on iTunes and distributed by Redeye USA. Of course, they’ll also be available at any of Conshafter’s live shows, which we highly recommend catching.

“Blue Sky & Black,” another bouncy pop-rock CD from Fighting Gravity, drops with a CD release party at the Birchmere in Alexandria on Sept. 22. Ask for the special edition two-disc set with demos and acoustic tracks.

Bluesman Terry Garland released his fifth full-length, “Whistling in the Dark,” in August.

It may not be the cover of Rolling Stone, but Lamb of God celebrated the Aug. 22 release of its latest heavy-metal screamfest, “Sacrament,” with a cover shot and lead article in the October issue of international nu-metal monthly “Revolver.” Plus, the group is touring huge stadiums across the globe.

November will see the long-awaited “Bloodstone Follies” almost 10 years after the nationally lauded “Southern Barber Supply,” from Southern surf-salsa party band Cashmere Jungle Lords.

Cracker is spending November in Europe touring in support of their current CD, “Greenland.”

“Dead FM,” indie band Strike Anywhere’s latest release on Fat Wreck Chords, was released Sept 6.

“Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat,” the sixth studio release and second on Vanguard from eclectic rockers Carbon Leaf, hit stores on Sept. 12.

The former VCU dorm mates and straight-up rockers of Bock’s Car are excited about their first release, “Any Landing That You Can Walk Away From,” due out Oct. 5. At an ambitious 52 minutes, you can expect these newcomers to fill Richmond’s void of classic/grunge/new wave music.

River City High looks to impress with its sophomore effort, “Not Enough Saturday Nights,” due Nov. 5 on Takeover Records. The band is currently on tour throughout the country playing barroom rock and living the rock-and-roll fantasy.

Lastly, we bid farewell to one of local music’s best friends and a fellow Inside Tracker, Alyssa Holtgrewe, who left her job with WRXL 102 to begin work with Universal/Motown in September. Best of luck, Alyssa. You will be missed. S
