The name game is running rampant through Richmond bands, especially for the above mentioned Four Stories, formerly known as High Watt and most recently Burning Through. Despite only one lineup change in the last three years, this emo/rock/metal four piece has suffered through management and copyright problems, but frontman Nick Tierney says the band is in a much happier place and getting ready for the release of its new CD, “Finding the Key.” Check out their CD release party April 29 at the Canal Club, which is free. www.fourstories music.com
If you recall, we were really excited about progressive rock band Vega last fall. The buzz on them has been growing in town and expanding beyond the state. The band spent an arduous few weeks deciding on a new name and researching trademarks. The result: Red Anthem. The name change hasn’t slowed them down; they are constantly expanding their repertoire and making musical headway. Case in point: New merchandise is on the way and organizers of the indie-rock music conference MacRock has invited them (and local electro-punkers VCR) to play the 10th annual Rock Showcase April 7 in Harrisonburg.
