How One Virginia Brewery is Turning Rainwater into Beer

For Hampton Roads beer fans who might be prone to cursing the rain after a seemingly never-ending storm, there’s new reason to be thankful for the bounty that falls from those dark skies.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation plans to turn rainwater into beer. Or rather, nearby Pleasure House Brewing will. And no, it’s not magic or a miracle.

The two have partnered to turn 300 gallons of drinkable rainwater collected via a complex system of filters at the Foundation’s Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach into about 200 gallons of a pilsner.
