Home Front: Tie One On

Want to make a fashion statement and whip up your holiday dinner at the same time? Tie on an apron from Lizzy Blitz Designs, Sue Ann McNeer’s whimsical line of kitchen cover-ups that take you from the pantry to the table in style. The Midlothian-based designer creates her one-of-a-kind garments — embellished with rickrack, fringe, grosgrain and pompoms — from 100 percent cotton, so they can be thrown in the wash after they’re worn. McNeer uses fabrics that can’t be found locally and incorporates tablecloths, dish towels and even chenille bedspreads into her products for a retro look that’s colorful and funky.

You can choose from Western-themed prints to the “Fashionista” apron (at left), featuring runway divas, or “Men at Work,” which sports hunky construction workers. Aprons run $40-$65; mother/daughter sets and designs for the favorite guy in your life are also available. To order, call 320-2841 or go to lizzyblitzdesigns.etsy.com.
