Forget baby steps. Ruth & Ollie, the eclectic home furnishings boutique currently located near the intersection of Grove and Libbie avenues, is taking a giant leap into the world of bigger, better and more centrally located. Come July 15, the shop will open the doors on its new home in Carytown, a 2,800-square-foot space formerly inhabited by Martha’s Mixture.
“We decided to start small,” says co-owner Mike Liebschwager of the original 600-square-foot building. “But if we were going to make a difference, we weren’t going to do it in this space.”
In addition to allowing Mike and his interior designer wife Kat to enhance their offerings with upholstered headboards, dining room tables, sofas and desks, the spacious new shop will also serve as the exclusive independent Richmond dealer of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams (MG+BW) comfortably modern furniture.
“We do not plan on changing our look or our feel,” says Mike. “We’re just trying to expand on a niche that our customers have said really isn’t being served in Richmond.”
