Since her breakthrough 2004 single “Redneck Woman,” musical artist Gretchen Wilson has provided a much different kind of female perspective in the country genre. Unlike the diva-pop-leanings of Faith Hill, or the adolescent romanticism of Taylor Swift, Wilson has solidified her identity with glamourless grit, unabashedly influenced by an upbringing of bartending, honky-tonking and roughneck survival. Providing such much-needed womanly realism hasn't been experienced since the days of Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn, and Wilson has continued to portray herself as she sees fit. Recently breaking free of major label meddling, Wilson recently released her latest album, “I Got Your Country Right Here,” on her independent imprint. Highlighted by a distinct new Southern-rock rowdiness, Wilson is scheduled to perform at Innsbrook Pavilion with Montgomery Gentry on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. $25-$45.
