Got My Horse

I saw Melissa Sinclair’s story, and just wanted to tell her that it is great (“The Matchmaker,” Cover Story, May 9). I sure miss that pony!

I also wanted to tell her that I did buy a thoroughbred gelding at a sale this weekend. He is not as big as the bay but is just as handsome and athletic. The first time I got on him, he threw me across the backyard and raced back to his pasture. I jumped up, caught my breath and laughed. He was just what I wanted … a challenge!

He has shaped up now and allows me to ride him if I don’t ask too much. He is learning to trust me. He is not an ex-racehorse, but I like him anyway. I am going to call him Digame (Dee Gah May). That means “tell me” in Spanish. He may turn out to be the jumper I am looking for to take to college. It is a stretch; he is only 15.3-16 hands tall. I suppose time will tell.
