If you’re ready for some new eats this week, you’re in luck: Two new restaurants have recently opened their doors, and you don’t have to dress up for either one.
Jonathan L. Scott, co-owner of the new Foundry Grill on West Broad, says you can even wear jeans to his place. Scott and partner Michael S. Andrews formerly worked in the kitchen at Lemaire. Now they’ve teamed up with Andrew S. Carroll to bring what they call new American coastal cuisine to Richmond.
Menu items at the Foundry include blackened salmon steak, seafood pasta and porterhouse steak. Vegetarians and vegans can request meatless dishes, too. Prices range from $3.95 for soup to $21.95 for the 18-ounce porterhouse steak. Most entrees cost $15-$19.
The Foundry Grill, located at 8900 W. Broad St., opens Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The bar stays open until midnight. For more information, call 762-8761.
Remember Belle B in North Side? We still get calls asking where they went. Well now we know: The place has changed hands and is now called Café Bella by the new owners, Michael Fox and Beth Blake. The name’s not the only thing they changed. By painting in warmer colors and installing comfortable booths, they toned down Belle B’s fancy interior, and the new less expensive menu offers French and Italian food.
Tony Filiberti, who once served as the North Carolina Panthers’ private chef, says he wants to make Cafe Bella’s dishes affordable and versatile. Menu items include margarita pizza, vodka ala carbonara and veal scaloppini. (And we thought all NFL players chowed Campbell’s Chunky.) Children’s items cost $4, and most adult entrees cost $13-$16.
