The first trailer has dropped for the hotly anticipated biopic about the Virginia couple whose court case helped to overturn Virginia’s ban on interracial marriage in the 1960s.

In the decades that followed, Richard and Mildred Loving’s struggle was recognized as a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement and now, more than 50 years later, “Midnight Special” director Jeff Nichols is helping to tell their story.

The film received some very positive buzz earlier this year when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival. Here are five things you need to know going in.
