To see all of the Philippines, you’ll need to visit 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean. An easier and more economical way to take in the culture is to visit the ninth annual Filipino Festival this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. There will be a cornucopia of delicious culinary creations, indigenous physical movements and audio and visual expressions. Opening night of the two-day celebration features a performance by actress and singer Stephanie Reese — known as the “standing ovation queen” — who was the first Filipino-American to perform at Carnegie Hall. Best of all, admission for all the festivities is free. For a complete schedule of events, call 262-7315 or visit filipinofestival.org.
