Instagram was a buzz today with travelers taking photos on Virginia highways, noting the wordplay of overhead signs.
“Wakanda driver are you? Safety is King” read the signs that people are photographing and sharing on social media.
Wakanda, of course, is a reference to the fictional African nation in the smash superhero movie, “Black Panther” which has grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide.
The movie has inspired an endless stream of articles and commentary, and its popularity has made it a tool not only for street signs and pop culture moments, but strangely propaganda.
