On Sunday, November 3, at 4:00 p.m., Saint Benedict Music Series will present Trio Niche.
Susan Via, violin, Tom Marshall, fortepiano, and Sarah Glosson, cello come together to form Trio Niche—a fortepiano trio presenting “a historical sensibility to repertoire from the turn of the nineteenth century.” Using a fortepiano that is a modern replica of an 1805 Walther instrument built by Paul McNulte, and both nineteenth-century violin and cello played with reproduction “transitional” classical bows by Eitan Hoffer, the ensemble “brings to life the sounds of the salons of Jane Austen’s Bath and Thomas Jefferson’s White House.”
The concert will feature works including Mozart’s Piano Trio in D Minor, K. 442, Haydn’s Piano Trio in A Major, Hob.XV:18, in addition to vocal sections from Schubert’s song cycle Die schöne Müllerin and Beethoven’s Scottish and Irish songs sung by guest tenor Joel S. Kumro. There is no cost for this concert; however, a free-will offering will be taken.
