Third Practice Festival

Multiple-Grammy winner, cellist Nick Photinos, returns to Third Practice to perform new works for cello, electronics and video including Raise, by 3P alum, Pamela Z. Pianist Ning Yu., praised for her, “taut and impassioned performance” by the New York Times, will present All Things That Disappear created in collaboration with UR alum, Heather Stebbins, along with Key Jack, Michael Biels’ amazing piece for pianist without piano with live video and electronics and several there pieces.

Three different concerts of the newest of new music for piano, cello, flute, synthesizers, cassette recorders, video and electronics in glorious 8-channel surround sound. Eighteen composers from across the U.S will be present, including six UR undergraduates and three UR alumni.

This concert is offered as part of the Department of Music Free Concert Series 2024-2025 Season. The Department of Music produces over 25 concerts annually featuring a broad range of styles and genres. Enjoy student recitals, faculty ensemble performances, and concerts created in collaboration with visiting artists. All concerts are FREE and seating is general admission. Tickets are required, and all will be welcomed as space allows.
