Ages 18 & up. Joshua Allen learned traditional hymns trailing a plow and mule, walking in the fields with his uncle and grandfather on a plantation in North Carolina. Passed down from generation to generation, his family’s oral history was instilled within him as he was taught how to hand make the African ox horn flute. From the roots and branches of a strong family tree and DNA, Mr. Allen will also curate the history of the hand made instruments. Delivering his voice and talents on many platforms, including a gubernatorial inauguration, Mr. Allen continues to share his deep and resounding voice to tell this musical journey story. We invite you to enjoy the evening and the thunderous roar of Mr. Allen and his accompanist, Diana Greer as they journey through time.
