Bees and other pollinators are essential to our ecosystem. They are vital to the growth of flowers and plants, like the ones you see here at Agecroft Hall & Gardens. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the populations of many of our most important pollinators, such as bees, decline. In the face of declining populations and environmental challenges, each of us can do our part to help support the local bee population. One such bee is the Mason bee. Mason bees like to build their nests in hollow stems or other holes in wood.
At this event, Conner Parrish of Blossoming Roots Farm & Supply in Ashland, VA will present a lecture on pollinators and beneficial bugs. Following Conner’s talk, participants will learn to make their own Mason beehives that they can then take home with them to help support Virginia’s native bee population.
This workshop is presented by the horticulture department of Agecroft Hall & Gardens.
