MLK’s Letter from Birmingham Jail: A Live Reading

While imprisoned in Birmingham Jail, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a moving and powerful letter that to clergy of different faiths — a letter whose content continues to resonate and inspire to this day. On Monday, January 20 at 10 am, in St. James’s Episcopal Church, that letter will be read aloud by local clerics and laypeople, including: Mayor-elect Danny Avula; Cantor Sarah Beck-Berman of Congregation Beth Ahabah; Lauranette Lee, director of social justice at Richmond Hill, Dr. Ron Carey, retired Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education of Richmond Public Schools; Ronald Crutcher, President Emeritus of University of Richmond; Lisa Edwards-Burrs, Associate Professor of Music at Longwood University; and Keith Abdul Khabir Webb, Senior Associate Director in Career Services, University of Richmond. Please join us and be reminded of the greatness of Dr. King and the timelessness of his message. The event is FREE. Parking is available in our FREE parking lot across the street from the church.
