We may know him best today as the junior Senator representing Virginia. But for 17 years in Richmond, Tim Kaine represented clients in court seeking housing justice. He served on the board of the Richmond-based nonprofit, Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME of VA), and represented the organization as they went to court to defend housing rights.
Today, the Senator and former candidate for Vice President represents Virginians in Washington, DC. His broad agenda includes recently co-sponsoring legislation that would support first-generation homebuyers through down payment assistance.
HOME of VA will ask Senator Kaine about his early days fighting for fair housing — and what it will take to finally ensure equal access to housing for all.
