“Diasporic Crossing”: group art exhibition

February 7 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

We are proud to announce our upcoming group exhibition, “Diasporic Crossing.” This dynamic exhibition explores cultural expansion, return, homage, exchange, and connectivity through diverse works spanning multiple media.

Curated by Ra-Twoine “Rosetta” Fields, with curatorial assistance from Nigel S. Richardson, “Diasporic Crossing” brings together an impressive roster of artists from across the African diaspora. Through their work, these artists navigate complex themes of exploration, identity, reverse acculturation (Sankofa), religion, survival, spirituality, and narrative storytelling, placing these themes in conversation with one another.

The exhibition will open on Friday, February 7th, with an opening reception from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the gallery located at 1309 Hull St and will run through March 1st, 2025.

Through powerful and evocative artworks, “Diasporic Crossing” invites the Richmond community to engage in meaningful dialogue and self-reflection about heritage, transformation, and the fluidity of global artistic exchange. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a thought-provoking collection that bridges cultures, time, experience, and histories.

Featured artists include: Andrew Bryant, Aragbada Steven, Asamoah Emmanuel, Candy Fordjour Frimpong, Curtis Newkirk, Jr., Dail Chambers, Derek Holland, Ebenezer Mensah, Earl Manning, Ed Saleem, Helen E.
