For March First Friday, we’re hosting a 2nd opening for the incredible youth work in Cross Contour. This exhibition highlights multimedia artwork from youth artists across three distinct experiences: experimental film and stop motion pieces by the high school creatives in teaching artist Alliannah Hamilton’s Digital Canvas at our Atlas gallery, meditatively produced paintings reflecting instinct and intuition from the middle school creatives at Thomas C Boushall Middle School in our middle school residency with artist Khalid Thompson, and the 2-D illustrations created by the young artists in the Motivate Excel Lead Art program from our friends at Parks and Recreation.
The meaning and methods of expression vary, yet Cross Contour highlights how the creative visions of young artists threading through our city intersect and resonate.
Come out to Atlas for March First Friday with this layered art experience brought to you by the ART 180 Collective. Plus! In anticipation of the upcoming NCECA event taking over Richmond in March, we’ll have a collaborative community clay project that you can contribute to during the opening, which will then be exhibited as part of NCECA.
