Cécile McLorin Salvant

December 6, 2024 @ 7:30 pm

$20 – $60

As a composer, singer, and visual artist, Cécile McLorin Salvant curates a journey of compelling narratives, unexpected twists, and humor. French and Haitian heritage influence her musical language and style, imbuing it with captivating rhythm and remarkable depth.

“Apart from Salvant’s singular voice and compelling musical arrangements, it’s her courage and imagination for such heady projects that set her apart from any contemporary singer, even when she is well beyond the usual fare associated with “jazz vocalists,” a term which severely understates her immense genre-bending talents.” – Glide Magazine

In 2019, famed operatic soprano Jessye Norman selected Salvant as the recipient of the Glenn Gould Protégé Prize. Norman said Salvant has “a unique voice supported by an intelligence and full-fledged musicality which lights up every note she sings. There is an intense, yet quiet confidence in her music-making that I find compelling and thoroughly enjoyable.”
