What makes this Friday a unique occasion is that within mere blocks you can witness a crazy amount of local creative expressions — at least more so than usual. Taking place in the downtown arts district, it’s the first real First Friday Art Walk of the year, with new and continuing exhibitions at the Ada Gallery, Black Iris, Gallery5, Sediment, the Richmond Public Library and other galleries within walking distance of each other. On Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., a leisurely stroll down to the Renaissance Conference Center will bring you to WRIR’s 11th annual Party for the Rest of Us. The fundraising showcase features a large and diverse selection of the city’s sound-makers, including performances by the 13-piece, jazz-tinged ensemble Brunswick, garage rockers Christi and indie-everything hit-makers Lucy Ducus, recently featured in Rolling Stone. Along with bands, there will be stand-up comedy, noise, visuals and DJs. Suggested admission is $15. 622-9747. wrir.org.
