Event Pick: UkeFest Virginia at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen

Nov. 4

There’s something so simple and beautiful about the ukulele, a member of the lute family that originated in Hawaii via the Portuguese. Join other uke enthusiasts when the nonprofit River City Ukulele Society presents the sixth annual UkeFest Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen. There will be workshops, concerts, a community stage and talented guests such as Lil Rev — a renowned uke player from Wisconsin best known for his Yiddish music — the Aloha Boys and Frets Halligan. 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. It’s $110 to register. Visit ukefestva.com for information.
