For 16 years, the Virginia Dance Festival has brought together dance organizations from across the state for a showcase to raise money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation. On Saturday, Feb. 6, the festival celebrates its 17th year with performances at James River High School at 2 and 7 p.m. Featuring more than 400 dancers from 43 different dance companies, the showcases will feature an array of styles from different global traditions. Organized by Jessica Morgan, the various choreographed sequences in tap, jazz, ballet, ballroom, hip-hop, Latin and Irish have raised more than $192,000 for the foundation through the years — all while offering an overview of the state’s budding talent. A silent auction takes place at the 2 p.m. performance. Call 363-9690 or visit virginiadancefestival.com.
