I’ve lived in Richmond more than three decades and I never knew we had so many pottery artists in our midst. On Saturday, June 4, you can acquaint yourself with the impressively varied works of local and regional ceramic artists and studios during the annual RVA Clay Studio Tour. The self-guided journey covers a lot of stylistic ground. From the functional, simple beauty of creations by Carren Clarke-McAdoo and Nga Nguyen-Weaver at Woodland Heights Studio to the sculptural organic fantasies of Julie Elkins, the works of more than 50 area artists will be featured at 20-plus clay studios in and around the 804. At each stop there will be demonstrations and refreshments to further your enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of the different earth-based expressions and how you too can engage in the creative process.
