After the success of its August Wilson celebration last season, TheatreLab’s BlackList series celebrating African-American playwrights is returning for two evenings, Thursday, Aug. 3, and Friday, Aug. 4, to focus on Lorraine Hansberry, who wrote “A Raisin in the Sun.” Expect selections from her plays, essays and lesser-known writings. Both nights start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available at theatrelabrva.org. The recipient of the BlackList’s No Dream Deferred scholarship for exceptional theater students will be announced at the performance Aug. 4.
