Event Pick: The Montpelier Center for Arts and Education Annual Fundraiser

Saturday, Feb. 25

The Montpelier Center for Arts and Education, just outside of Ashland off U.S. Route 33, is holding its 2017 annual fundraiser this Saturday, Feb. 25.

This year’s fundraiser will feature a special tribute to Barbara Jones, who passed away last March and was the visionary behind the museum.

The funds raised this year will go toward supporting arts education in the Hanover County community. The Montpelier Center for Arts and Education is found at the site of former Montpelier School built in 1929, an important landmark to Western Hanover County.

According to its website, this brick structure is the last surviving public building in Hanover County constructed by funds raised solely by the local citizens during the Depression to provide an education for their children.

The evening, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will feature music by the Premiere Band, a live and silent auction, and hors d’oeuvres by White House catering with wine and beer.

Tickets are $50 each and sponsorships are available. They can be purchased by clicking here or calling 804-883-7378. Last day for ticket sales is Friday
