Five years ago, I booked the Lumineers at Balliceaux. Though the crowd was small on that Tuesday night in October, the band had that special something that made everyone in the room feel like they were being let in on a secret. And that we were. Soon thereafter, the cat was out of the bag and the Lumineers exploded into the mainstream with an organic sound that’s at once reassuringly familiar yet bold, exciting and new. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the Lumineers, which deserve every accolade written about them, brings their hey-hos, stubborn loves and flowers in your hair to the Classic Amphitheater at Richmond International Raceway. Opening are the bubbling-just-beneath-the-surface-of-popular-consciousness sounds of Børns and Rayland Baxter. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $34.50-$39.50.
