With the new “Star Wars” film finally hitting the silver screen this weekend, science fiction fans are dizzy with anticipation. In related fantasy news, the intergalactic musical warriors known as the League of Space Pirates make a rare appearance on our terrestrial plane Sunday, Dec. 20, for the Third annual There’s No Winter in Space Non-Denominational Holiday Special at the Coalition Theater. A comic-book creation of Richmond artist, musician and creator of the Skull-a-Day art project, Noah Scalin, the collection of anti-corporate crusaders fights the forces of evil with goth-inspired, dark-wave dance pop. Along for the interplanetary seasonal soirée will be like-minded superheroes rapper Noah-O, dance enabler Mikemetic, the sensuous gyrations of Khalima and Richmond quirk pop duo Flashlight Tag. The multimedia feast of fantasy-based festivity begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $10. rvacomedy.com.
