I’ll take animals over people every single time. It’s not that I don’t like or value my own species, but when it comes to nonverbal companionship and civility, nonhumans can’t be beat. On Saturday, April 9, you can bask in the glory that is animal-human camaraderie at the Henrico Humane Society’s 16th annual Pet Expo, taking place at Richmond International Raceway. The pet-friendly, indoor event will feature more than 50 exhibitors selling goods and services to enhance the lives of these sanity-saving comrades in fur. There will be activities and opportunities to add an eternally grateful member to your family from local animal-rescue groups. Proceeds from the day of mutual interspecies appreciation benefit the more-than-worthy folks at the Henrico Humane Society. The family-enriching festivities run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5-$10. henricohumane.org.
