Last week I highlighted the St. Patrick’s Day pre-game events Shamrock the Block and St. Patty’s Palooza. Now it’s time for the main event: Richmond’s oldest, largest and most beloved celebration of all things Irish is the Church Hill Irish Festival, happening Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20, at 25th and East Broad streets. In its 30th year, there will be two full days of music, arts and entertainment. Add to that cornucopia of cultural sensations a variety of culinary and fermented options, vendors and an area reserved exclusively for children to gleefully frolic. Proceeds benefit a slew of worthy, hardworking folks including St. Baldrick’s Society, Child Saver’s Clinic of Richmond, the McShin Foundation and other neighborhood causes. The family-friendly celebration begins both days at 10 a.m. Admission is $5. Call 356-1093 or visit churchhillirishfestival.com.
