Ah yes, summertime is here. While your daddy may not be rich and your ma not all that good-lookin’, we all seek the humid tranquility of lazy summer days. On Saturday, July 9, the living will be easy at Summer Fest at the Greater Richmond ARC Park. The recently opened, 2.4-acre expanse is the first of its outdoor kind in Central Virginia with three playgrounds, a performance pavilion and other modern amenities. Adding icing to the cake for the family-friendly event will be food-truck offerings from Firehouse Bar-B-Que, the Dog Wagon, Kona Ice and Mister Softee ice cream. If you’re still on the fence, consider that two of Richmond’s most user-friendly groups, the Dharma Bombs and Red Light Rodeo, will provide the soundtrack for the cross-generational frolic. The alcohol-free festivities run noon-5 p.m., with free admission. Call 358-1874 or visit richmondarc.org.
