One short year ago, Stone Brewing opened its doors at 4300 Williamsburg Ave., finally giving Richmonders an up-close look at the controversial project. It was a little hard to find because it lacked a sign. But once beer fans got inside, the tasting room’s soaring ceilings and industrial chic complemented the lineup of Stone brews that many locals hadn’t tried. And now the big-boy brewery celebrates its first birthday. The party on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., features the release of a mystery India pale ale, friends from Lamplighter Roasting Co. and Mountain Culture Kombucha, and a re-enactment of Patrick Henry’s Give-Me-Liberty-or-Give-Me-Death speech. Stone will donate 10 percent of draft beer sales to the Fulton Neighborhood Resource Center. stonebrewing.com.
