In my wildest municipal dreams, I never would have imagined the day would come that you could ride a waterslide in downtown Richmond. Well, people, that day has come. On Saturday, June 18, you can slide across a thousand feet of slick, watered-down vinyl for Slide the City, at Third and Byrd streets. Billing it as the biggest slip and slide ever to hit asphalt, Utah-based Sack Lunch Productions overcame a litany of health, environmental and safety concerns to bring the watery festivities to our concrete jungle. There are lots of riding options and plenty of live music, food, drinks and activities to keep each member of the family entertained before, during and after the ride. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Virginia. Call 801-528-8395 or visit slidethecity.com.
