Brooklyn, New York-based jam band Shwizz wants to take you on a trip. It has so many musical tricks that it’s hard to keep track. Rooted in funkified space exploration, the group flexes its fret board muscles every chance it gets on its 2015 release, “My Good Side/My Bad Side.” These musicians don’t play songs, they jam on jazz-rocked structures filled with solo flights, unison riffing and unexpected rhythmic turns. It’s a sprawling surrey of musical indulgences if you have the attention span for lengthy explanations. By its very nature, jam rock is meant to be experienced live and this double album is the enticement to get you to go. You can do just that when Shwizz sets the controls for the heart of its sun Saturday, June 25, at Cary Street Cafe. Doors open at 10 p.m. $5. carystreetcafe.com.
