It’s the five-year anniversary of RVA Krampusnacht, a celebration of the mythical beast from Alpine folklore and pre-Christian mythology who punishes bad children — and who clearly has a lot of work this year. No matter your background or beliefs, come dressed up in funky evil spirit costumes and parade through Carytown like a less bloody zombie walk. It starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Citizen Burger Bar in Carytown and there will be a midway stop and costume contest at Aquarian Bookshop, then a return for the afterparty. Want to make a weekend of it? Start a day early. There will be a Yuletide Monsters art show with live music (Kenneka Cook, Opin, Unmaker and Big No), a holidaze market and a special Krampus mead (created with Black Heath Meadery) at Gallery5 on Friday, Dec. 1, from 7 p.m. to midnight. rvakrampus.com.
