Event Pick: Richmond’s Last Waltz at the Camel

Nov. 17

It was one of the most legendary concerts of the ’70s, the Last Waltz on Thanksgiving 1976 at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco was headlined by the Band with guests including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell and Dr. John. Apart from the iconic lineup and film crews, it also had a community vibe with scraggly concertgoers enjoying a fully catered meal in a lush setting. Now comes Richmond’s intimate version where local musicians will recreate the show while raising money to feed those in need. The band will consist of John Bradberry on guitar, Sid Kingsley on keys, Chris Speasmaker on organ, Scott Lane on bass and Andrew Sisk on drums. Guests include Kelli Strawbridge, Andrew Rapisarda, Chris Ryan, Prabir Mehta, Brent McCormick, Kenneka Cook, Landon Elliot, Stephen Kuester, Travis Rinehart, Pat Keefe and Corey Axt. Come vibe out on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Camel from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. $5 to $7 (at door). All proceeds go to FeedMore. thecamel.org.
