One of the most tragic stories in music is that of Badfinger. Signed to the Beatles’ Apple Records, the British group had a string of Top 40 hits (“Baby Blue,” “Day After Day” and “Come and Get It”) in the early ’70s before dissolving into a sea of infighting, financial ruin and the suicides of two of the group’s original four members. On Saturday, April 30, local musicians will perform classics and rarities by the pop-rock gods as the tribute act No Matter What at Ashland Coffee and Tea. Organized by longtime Richmond musician and Badfinger enthusiast Brooke Sanders, a seasoned cast of regional rockers join members of the Hullabaloos, the Taters and Neatles for what surely will be a memorable night of singing along to the oldies. Doors open at 8 p.m. $10-$15. ashlandcoffeeandtea.com.
