Event Pick: Municipal Waste, Kepone, Black Anvil and Suppression at the Broadberry

April 1

This show is going to be a whole lot of fun. Reconstituting themselves after a period of inactivity, the Richmond trash metal jesters of Municipal Waste are a powder keg of kinetic energy. The joyously extreme quartet has been igniting audiences with fiendish frivolity since its inception in 2000. Kepone proves that sometimes you can go home again. The Richmond trio hasn’t lost a step since its heyday in the mid-’90s and delivers its post-teenage kicks as few middle-aged men can. New York metalists Black Anvil are a hybrid of Slayer chops and hardcore tenacity. The band’s 2014 release, “Hail Death,” is black metal euphoria. Upping the pure adrenaline ante is Richmond anti-music duo, Suppression — the sound of a thousand cups of coffee drunk on the day you’re fired from a job you hate. The night of contumacious inspirations takes place Friday, April 1, at the Broadberry. Doors open for the group therapy session at 8 p.m. $12-$15. thebroadberry.com.
