Event Pick: Hogtober 2017 at Libby Hill Park

This annual party in Church Hill’s lovely Libby Hill Park features local bands, craft beer and all the barbecue you can handle on Saturday, Oct. 7, as part of a benefit for the Church Hill Association. The lineup of bands includes the rising folk pop of Spotify stars Colin and Caroline from noon to 1 p.m. (their music also is featured in the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why”); the modern bluegrass of Church Hill Music Co. from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.; veteran roots rockers Horsehead from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.; cover band the Hit List from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m.; and a sing-a-long Neil Diamond cover band, Diamond Heist, closes the day out from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (the festival runs a little later this year). Among the food vendors: Buz and Ned’s, Alamo BBQ, Inner City Blues, Jadean’s Smokin’ Six O, King of Pops, Ronnie’s BBQ, and great beer choices including Ardent, Brown Distributing and Bold Rock.
