Event Pick: Hanover High School Jazz Band Fundraising Night at the Tin Pan

Dec. 16

Music is a vital part of students’ education. Research has proven that an understanding of melody helps young minds with their comprehension in all areas of learning. On Wednesday, Dec. 16, the Hanover County Jazz Band program holds a fundraiser for its performance groups at the Tin Pan. The night will feature holiday favorites “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch,” “Nutcracker Swing,” “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” and other seasonal classics performed by the musicians of the Hanover High School Jazz Band and the Advanced Jazz Ensemble, led by Amy Birdsong. Proceeds will go toward continuing the county’s music programs and the group’s performances throughout the state. Doors open for the all-ages holiday fundraiser at 7 p.m. Suggested admission is $5, but feel free to give as much as you can so students can continue to take the A train to a complete education. tinpanrva.com.
