The Firehouse Theatre kicks off a season dubbed one of radical change by producing artistic director Joel Bassin. First up is the regional premiere of “The Boy in the Bathroom,” an award-winning musical by Michael Lluberes and Joe Maloney. Developed at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the story follows a man with an extreme case of obsessive-compulsive disorder, who locks himself in the bathroom for a year to write his thesis in a controlled environment. Firehouse’s associate producer Adam B. Ferguson directs the highly entertaining and mildly disturbing meditation on fear of change and the power of love. The cast features John Mincks, Rebecca Turner and Catherine Shaffner in starring roles with musical director Starlet Knight. Preview performances begin Thursday and Friday, July 16 and 17, at 7:30 p.m., and continue Wednesday and Thursday, July 22 and 23, before officially opening its run Friday, July 24.
