The last few times I’ve previewed outdoor events, it’s rained. So here’s hoping that I can break a trend with Dominion Riverrock, the annual festival of outdoor sports and live music taking place Friday-Sunday, May 20-22, on Brown’s Island. The three-day event, organized by Venture Richmond and Sports Backers, features such active engagements as trail running, kayaking, biking, bouldering, slack lining, stand-up paddle boarding and dog jumping. While all that’s going on, you can hear music from Richmond groups the MikoWaves, Future Prospect, Big Mama Shakes, the Slank, Dance Candy, the D.J. Williams Projekt and Jackass Flats, sharing the stage with national acts G. Love & Special Sauce, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass, Rayland Baxter and Futurebirds. There will be a litany of environment-friendly vendors and an interactive village to strengthen the bond between humanity and nature. Call 285-9495 or visit dominionriverrock.com.
