Event Pick: Current Contemporary Art Fair at Hohman Design

Oct. 20-23

You’ve likely heard of big art fairs in New York, Miami and London, but the Mid-Atlantic has yet to join the party. How do Richmond gallery owners plan to get younger audiences interested in fine art while drawing attention to this vibrant art scene? That’s the idea behind Current, the inaugural, multigallery showcase and exhibition running Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 20-23, at Hohman Design in Scott’s Addition. The city’s first contemporary art fair will feature a wide range of local, national and internationally recognized artists priced to accommodate most budgets (that is key), plus food trucks. It’s organized by owners and directors from the 1708 Gallery, ADA gallery, Candela Books and Gallery, Glave Kocen Gallery, Page Bond Gallery, Quirk Gallery and the Reynolds Gallery. The goal is to make art available to all people and not only those with an excess of disposable income.
