The one-man blues explosion known as Bob Log III scrambles up a frenetic mess of sound. Equal parts junkyard pizazz and fret-board slink, the helmeted crusader coaxes listeners to skinny-dip with him in muddy waters. On his new Bloat Records release, “Bump or Meow Volume One,” Log’s scrap-heap aesthetic is in full effect. Tunes such as “Hot Spot Hanson,” “Booty of a Grizzly” and “Throw the Hammer Hard” give a party purpose and gusto. A keen showman, Log also is an exceptionally gifted guitarist. His ability to mix the soul of Elmore James with the crotch impulses of David Lee Roth is what makes him unique. Bob Log III reinvents the Hasil Adkins wheel Sunday, Aug. 28, at Strange Matter. Opening for him are Birdcloud and the Kevin Dowling Fitness Hour. 9 p.m. $10-$12. strangematterrva.com.
