Event Pick: Back to the ’90s Night at the Camel

July 21

Nobody likes having a boss. No matter how agreeable, understanding or appreciative the people in power may be, there will always be some sort of resentment toward the paycheck signers. A longtime Richmond restaurant and live music venue, the Camel, has found a way to bypass the pitfalls of the worker-employer dynamic: Everybody there is the boss. This week, they celebrate the first year as an employee-owned and -operated business with special shows, engagements and deals running Monday, July 18, through Sunday, July 24. Along with musical highlights including the ’90s tribute night (Thursday, July 21) and the Jet Trails Showcase local music showcase (Saturday, July 23), everything from the kitchen will be available for half price from 3 p.m.-midnight. Check out all the worker-approved entertainments and enticements planned for this week— and later — at thecamel.org.
