Everybody wants to tell you what the nation’s founding fathers thought. What they never tell you is how they sang. That is the basis for “1776 the Musical.” Written by Peter Stone and Sherman Edwards, the Virginia Repertory Theatre’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical hits the stage Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 6-10, at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre. Scott Wichmann stars as the John Adams, the frustrated delegate from Massachusetts trying to persuade his bickering colleagues to sign the Declaration of Independence during the second Continental Congress. Directed by Debra Clinton, an all-star cast of Richmond stage veterans including Landon Nagel (Thomas Jefferson), Jason Marks (Benjamin Franklin) and Michael Hawk (John Hancock) make this a patriotic tale you don’t want to miss. For show times and ticket information, call 282-2620 or visit va-rep.org. Through Oct. 23.
