Drew Gibson at Ashland Coffee and Tea

Wednesday, Jan. 11

Richmond native (now Washington-based) singer and songwriter Drew Gibson has been hard at work since his 2007 debut, “Letterbox.” During the past four years Gibson has been working with producer and fellow musician Paul Curreri on his follow-up album, “The Southern Draw,” using experimental percussion styles and the old-fashioned folk for which he’s known. “Letterbox” landed numerous accolades for Gibson, including the Washington Area Music Association’s new artist of the year and best contemporary folk album prizes, as well as nominations for best alt-country album of 2007 from the Indie Acoustic Project in Colorado and best male singer and songwriter from Just Plain Folks in Indianapolis. Get to know Drew Gibson when he plays at Ashland Coffee and Tea on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. $10.
