Regarding “22 Reasons to Love Richmond,” I agree that there are many reasons to love Richmond. These include the city’s abundant green spaces, parks and the James River; its architecture and unique old neighborhoods; its universities, art and music; and a great road system that should be the envy of anywhere. When I, a Richmond native living in deep-South exile, hear the city’s residents grumble about the beautiful place where they live, I think they’re spoiled and ignorant.
Be that as it may, the smug slap you give other Virginia communities via item 20 (“Because while living in Richmond may have its faults, it beats living in …”) isn’t worthy of Virginia’s capital city. By tossing petty, unprovoked insults at neighbors, you belittle yourselves and Richmond.
