Clip File: Local Musician Gets a Little Rock Luck

CosmoGirl! describes her vibe as “mellow, like Cat Power or early Liz Phair” — not bad company. And people seem to be taking notice. Since the article has come out, Easterly says, she’s noticed higher traffic on her Web site, www.emilyeasterly.com, and increased online CD sales.

It is a little inconvenient to get good press when you don’t have a show to push. “I wish I had a show to promote and I actually don’t,” Easterly says. Why? She’s taking it easy, she says, working part-time at Plan 9 – where, yes, she’s selling her own CDs — and spending time writing music.

Next up: finishing her senior year, and extending her fan base. “I definitely would like to record some more,” she says, “and just get around, and play some other cities.” — Jason Roop
