They’re shlepping out Diana’s dresses again. But this time they’re calling them “sacred relics” and “symbols of a beloved icon.”

If you’re one of those who thinks it’s time the world let the poor dead princess rest in peace instead of employing her image and her tragic death to make money, “Princess Diana’s Dresses” is not for you.

But for those – let’s call them Dianaphiles — who bought a Diana gown in June 1997, when Christie’s auctioned off more than 79 Diana dresses at prices ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, this Cinemax Reel Life documentary offers another chance to bask in her glory. The hour-long program airs Monday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., with repeats on Oct. 5 and 20.

Among those who’ll be interviewed are California nursing professor Linda Sarna, who modeled the gown she bought for $20,000. It didn’t fit her very well. Then there’s Maureen Rorech of Tampa, who bought 13 dresses, including the midnight blue John Travolta dress for which she paid $200,000. (No, Travolta didn’t wear the dress. Diana did, when she danced with Travolta at the White House.)

And, yes, Richmond. Our own Fontaine Minor will tell us again that her purchase of a Diana dress for $25,000 was “one of the most thrilling moments of my life” and that the purchase ranked right up there with her marriage and the birth of her children.

True, Diana was a beautiful woman who wore clothes well. But one can’t help but wonder when we’ll all just … well … get over it and move along.
